The Vilnius "Žalgiris" club reached the second stage of the Intertoto Cup, overcoming Northern Ireland's Lisburn Distillery team for the second time with a minimal lead and continuing participation in the tournament.
Lisburn Distillery 0 - 1 Vilnius Žalgiris (First leg 0-1, aggregate score 0-2) 47' [0 - 1] Andrej Šilo (11m.)
68' John Martin (Distillery) sent off
From the first leg in Vilnius, thanks to Virmantas Lemežis' goal, Žalgiris had the advantage, and this time, the equalizer was enough for them, but they played for victory and Belarusian Andrej Šilo scored from the penalty spot in the beginning of the second half.
As the second half progressed, Distillery's situation became even more complicated as John Martin was sent off. The score remained unchanged for the rest of the match - Žalgiris convincingly won and moves on to the second stage, where they will face the winner of the pair of Dinaburg (Latvia) and Bangor City (Wales).
In the first leg away, the Latvians won 2-1 - if they don't stumble in the home match tomorrow, Žalgiris will travel to Daugavpils. Meanwhile, the other capital team, Vilnius "Vėtra", will try to eliminate the minimal advantage in the match against Romanian club "Cluj Ecomax" at home on Sunday.
