On Wednesday, the UEFA Champions League round of 16 battles continued. There were one match each in England and Italy.
The most attention was drawn to the match in London, where the local team "Arsenal" tried to take revenge on the Munich "Bayern" club, but Josep Guardiola's disciples defeated the "Gunners" with a score of 0-2.
In the first half, both teams had great opportunities to score a goal, but failed to do so. Firstly, in the 9th minute, Mesut Ozil missed his own earned penalty kick.
At the end of the first half, a penalty kick was awarded to "Arsenal" this time, but even more harshly - goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny saw a questionable red card for bringing down Arjen Robben.
However, the Champions League winners failed to take advantage of a great opportunity to take the lead for the first time in this match, as David Alaba hit the post from the penalty spot.
In the second half, Arsene Wenger's players stepped onto the field with one player less, causing difficulties, and in the 54th minute, goalkeeper Toni Kroos equalized with a great long-range shot.
During the rest of the match, the team from the English capital faltered and the German champions began to completely dominate. The final goal of the match was scored by Thomas Muller, who received an assist from Philipp Lahm. The latter's efforts also resulted in the first goal.
In the other match, the guests also celebrated victory. At the end of the match, Madrid's "Atletico" defeated "Milan" by a minimal margin.
The decisive goal was scored in the 83rd minute by the leader of Diego Simeone's team, Diego Costa. It is worth noting that a total of seven yellow cards were shown at the "San Siro" stadium.
