On Thursday evening, the participants of the UEFA Europa League round of 16 were determined in European stadiums.
The first team to advance beyond the round of 16 barrier was the team of Sevilla's "Real Betis." The Spanish footballers defeated Kazan's "Rubin" team with a score of 2-0.
Another team to secure victory at home and advance to the next stage was Rafael Benitez's "Napoli" team. The Neapolitans defeated Wales' "Swansea City" footballers at home.
Also making it to the next stage were "Sevilla" club, who beat the Slovenian "Maribor" footballers. The "Viktoria Plzen" team also celebrated victory, defeating Donetsk's "Shakhtar."
The match in Bulgaria was dramatic, where the local "Ludogrets" played to a 3-3 draw with Rome's "Lazio" and advanced to the tournament's quarter-finals.
There were also goal-filled draws in Frankfurt, where "Eintracht" and "Porto" teams scored three goals each, but the Portuguese team advanced to the next stage due to a higher number of away goals.
At home, Zalcburgo's "Red Bull" team finished off Amsterdam's "Ajax" footballers with a crushing 6-1 score.
The "Basel" team also secured their spot in the quarter-finals by defeating Tel Aviv's "Maccabi" club 3-0 at home.
After a defeat in Ukraine, the "Tottenham" footballers stood tall, showing superiority over the "Dnipro" team at the "White Hart Lane" stadium. Emmanuel Adebayor scored a double to contribute to the victory.
Italy's champions Turin's "Juventus" easily advanced to the quarter-finals with a 2-0 victory over Turkey's "Trabzonspor" team.
The "Lyon" club celebrated a minimal victory at home over Ukraine's "Chornomorets" footballers.
"Fiorentina" let victory slip from their hands against "Esbjerg," but still advanced to the quarter-final stage. A goalless draw was played between the "Valencia" team and Kiev's "Dynamo" footballers. A solid performance allowed Valencia's team to progress further.
The "Anzhi" team secured an away victory over Belgium's "Genk," while "Benfica" crushed Greece's "PAOL" team to advance to the quarter-finals.
A draw 1-1 was recorded between "AZ" and "Slovan Liberec," but the Dutch club advanced to the next stage due to the away victory.
