On Sunday, the final of the English League Cup ("Capital One Cup") tournament took place at London's "Wembley" stadium.
The teams fighting for survival in the Premier League, Sunderland and Manuel Pellegrini's Manchester City, met in the capital.
At the beginning of the match, Manchester City tried to take the initiative, but Gus Poyet's players created dangerous counterattacks.
One of them was successfully converted into a goal in the 10th minute. Fabio Borini beat Vincent Kompany's defense and defeated Costel Pantilimon.
After the goal, the game on the field did not change much - the "citizens" created positional attacks and tried to equalize the score.
They managed to do so only at the beginning of the second half, when goalkeeper Yaya Toure sent the ball into the goal with an impressive shot.
Just a few moments later, the score became 2-1 in favor of Manchester City. After a pass from Aleksandar Kolarov, Samir Nasri defeated Vito Mannone.
After this turn of events in the match, Sunderland players more frequently visited the opponent's half, but Manchester City's defense worked solidly.
The point in the match was placed in the 90th minute after a great counterattack led by Jesus Navas.
For Manchester City coach Manuel Pellegrini, this trophy was the first one won while working in England.
