The architect of Juventus' successful victories, Antonio Conte, has been recognized as the best Serie A coach for the second year in a row.
The strategist, who has triumphed in the Italian championship for the past two years, was honored at the "Panchina d'Oro" (in Italian - "Golden Bench") awards ceremony held on Monday.
A. Conte received a total of 26 votes, while Vincenzo Montella, the coach of Fiorentina, received three votes less, placing him second. The third place went to Walter Mazzarri, coach of Inter Milan, whose Napoli team finished second last season.
The best coach of last season's Serie B championship was former Sassuolo strategist Eusebio Di Francesco.
The "Panchina d'Oro" award has been around since 1991, and winners are selected by a commission made up of the best Italian football journalists.
In the annual awards, the most successful coach is Fabio Capello, who has won the "Panchina d'Oro" award three times. Following him with two victories each are Marcello Lippi, Cesare Prandelli, Carlo Ancelloti, and Alberto Zaccheroni.
