Striker Diego Costa was happy that he finally managed to debut in the ranks of the Spanish national team and promised to surprise with his performances in the future.
On Wednesday, Vicente del Bosque's team narrowly defeated the Italians 1-0. The only goal of the match was scored by Pedro.
"I am very happy to have debuted in the national team and that we won the match. I will continue to play well for Atletico Madrid to receive more calls to represent the national team," said the naturalized Brazilian.
"Although I am happy, I know I can give much more - the first matches are never easy," said the 25-year-old striker.
"We are happy with Diego and his integration into the team, as well as his first match," said coach del Bosque.
Before the World Cup, the Spaniards will play matches against Bolivia and El Salvador.
