Italian news agency "ANSA" announced that one of the best referees in the world, Pierluigi Collina, will work for another year in the Italian "Serie A" championship.
Today, after a meeting between the most famous referee and the president of the Italian Football Federation, Franco Carraro, it was decided to allow 45-year-old Collina to officiate until June 30, 2006.
This decision does not mean that Collina will be able to officiate in the Champions League or the 2006 World Cup in Germany. The referee, known as the "Phantom," will only be able to blow the whistle in Italy.
