On a spring-like Sunday in Lithuania, three more matches of the new "SMScredit.lt A League" season were played.
The champions opened the season at LFF Stadium. Vilnius "Žalgiris" defeated the determined "Šiauliai" team with a score of 3-1.
In the 16th minute, Artūras Žulpa scored the first goal for the "green and whites," but Niko Tokičius equalized the score just ten minutes later.
Serge Nyuiadzi delighted the crowd at the end of the first half by putting Vilnius ahead again, and Linas Pilbaitis secured the final result in the 56th minute for "Žalgiris."
Meanwhile, in Panevėžys, the hosts "Ekranas" faced Pakruojis "Kruoja." The former champions suffered a painful defeat with a score of 1-2.
"Kruoja" took the lead in the 26th minute with a goal by Tomas Birškys, but the hosts managed to equalize, with the goal being scored at the end of the match.
However, in added time, the guests from Pakruojis managed to break the resilient "Ekranas." Ričardas Beniušis scored the decisive goal in the final seconds of the second half.
In other matches, Marijampolė "Sūduva" also failed to secure a victory at home. Darius Gvildžio's team lost by a narrow margin to Gargždai "Banga."
Later at LFF Stadium, Lithuanian champions Vilnius "Žalgiris" will host "Šiauliai."
