Over the past four seasons, the "Ligue 1" champion team announced that they have signed a contract with Norwegian national team striker John Carew.
The former player with the French club has signed a four-year contract. It is believed that "Lyon" paid 7.65 million euros to "Besiktas" for the 25-year-old striker. It is worth mentioning that a year ago, the Norwegian moved from "Valencia" to "Besiktas" for 5 million euros.
"I think this is great news for the club's fans, as our main task during the offseason was to acquire a strong striker," said "Lyon" president Jean-Michel Aulas.
"He is a very experienced player and I have no doubt that he will strengthen our team."
The new "Lyon" coach Gerard Houllier initially wanted to see Czech Milan Baros representing his team, but Carew's strength was the main reason why the coach chose this particular footballer.
"We were looking for a strong, solid striker who could fight upfront, which is especially important when playing in Europe, and we found him," Houllier rejoiced in his new acquisition.
