The Catalonia club does not intend to compete with itself in the market of football players this summer and, if necessary, is ready to spend large sums, said "Barcelona" vice president Javier Faus, as reported by the newspaper "El Mundo Deportivo".
According to one of the team's leaders, all this will be done so that the team "maintains its sporting excellence".
It is already clear that longtime goalkeeper Victor Valdes will leave "Barca" this summer. However, it seems that the Catalonians, upon learning of the veteran's decision last year, hurried to secure his successor. Commentators unanimously agree that 21-year-old German Marc-Andre Ter Stegen from Borussia Moenchengladbach will take Valdes's place in goal. The new player, according to unofficial information, will cost 10-12 million euros.
"Barca" will also need a powerful central defender, as their captain Carles Puyol has decided to end his career at the club. It is not excluded that there will be more changes.
And although the Catalonia club will have to explain itself in court regarding the acquisition of Neymar last summer, "Barca" is once again ready to spend money.
"In the player market next summer, we intend to spend a lot of money. The club is ready for this now and in the future, because one of our main goals is to maintain the team's level of excellence. The financial situation of "Barca" is not an obstacle to this. We can afford it," said Faus.
According to the vice president, the club can afford to make giant expenditures in the player market, even though they plan to renovate "Camp Nou" for 600 million, rebuild the stadium for the youth football team, build a brand new basketball arena, and fundamentally reorganize some other sports and leisure facilities.
"Spending money on player acquisitions will have no impact on the club's plans to manage its infrastructure in the future as we have envisioned," Faus affirmed.
