Although Jose Mourinho left Madrid back in the summer of 2013, his name still resonates in the mouths of the "Real" players.
"Real" defender Pepe did not miss the opportunity to take a jab at his former coach, speaking on Tuesday evening during a radio show on "Onda Cero."
This season, J. Mourinho, coaching London's "Chelsea," caused anger among "Real" players last week when he stated that in the dressing room of the Madrid team, he had "one girl who constantly looked in the mirror before going out to play a match."
"Mourinho is probably the only person who, when he wakes up in the morning, never looks in the mirror (...). Ancelotti (current "Real" coach) has given us a lot of confidence and peace," said Pepe.
The Portuguese defender also explained why last season he publicly defended "Real" goalkeeper Iker Casillas when he fell out of favor with J. Mourinho.
"I did it not because his name is Casillas, but because he's my teammate. And because he has done so much for the "Real" club," said Pepe.
Finally, the "Real" defender also spoke about his reputation.
"It's really hard for my mom to hear that her son is a killer. I haven't committed a crime," Pepe defended himself, constantly facing criticism for his rough play. "I don't understand what happened that day" (in April 2009 during a league match with "Getafe," the "Real" defender was sent off the field for repeatedly kicking the opponent Casquero in the legs and back, and as he left the field, he even punched another opponent).
"I try to understand, but still can't explain it."
