On Thursday, the International Football Federation FIFA updated the world team rankings, in which Lithuanian footballers dropped three positions. Currently, they are in 105th place.
A month ago, Lithuania was in 102nd place, but in the latest ranking they dropped to 105th place. The Lithuanian team lost 12 ranking points in a month. Neighbors Latvia dropped two positions and now occupy 113th place. The highest-ranking team from the Baltic countries are the Estonians in 92nd place.
On the tenth place, the Netherlands overtook the Belgian team. Meanwhile, the Dutch remained in 11th place. The top five have not changed - Spain, Germany, Argentina, Portugal, Colombia.
In the Euro 2016 qualifying tournament, the Lithuanian national team will play in Group E with the teams from England, Switzerland, Slovenia, Estonia, and San Marino.
In the latest ranking, the English team moved up to 12th place, the Swiss dropped to 7th, and Slovenia to 31st. Lithuanians surpassed only the FIFA classification outsider San Marino in 207th place without points.
The European vice-champion Italy (1112 points) remains eighth, while the 2014 World Cup host Brazil (1104 points), last year's winner of the Confederations Cup tournament for the third time in a row, is in ninth place.
