The Madrid "Real" club received very bad news - right-back defender Alvaro Arbeloa's knee injury is serious and he won't be able to play for at least eight weeks.
Initially, it was thought that the 31-year-old footballer would have to take a break from football for 3-4 weeks, but after further examination, it became clear that the Spaniard will most likely not appear this season.
The good news for the "white" team is that Daniel Carvajal, who has been in excellent physical form this season, is completely healthy, although he had to leave the field last weekend.
A. Arbeloa told the "Goal.com" website: "I will be out of action for at least eight weeks. It turns out that the injury is much more serious than it seemed at first glance."
The defender, who has played 28 matches for Real this season, may also miss the 2014 World Cup.
