The match started with attacks from the Vilnius team, and a real chance was missed in the 8th minute when Šarūnas Litvinas' shot missed the goal. Just three minutes later, a shot from D.Maciulevičius towards the "Vėtra" goal hit one of the defenders' hands, and the referee from Kaunas awarded a questionable penalty kick, which was converted by one of the Marijampolė leaders, T.Radzinevičius.

In the second half, the game leveled out and "Vėtra" tried to score on counterattacks. In one of them, N.Vasiliauskas, who received the ball in midfield, dribbled past two defenders, tricked G.Padimanskas, but couldn't send the ball to the goal from about 10 meters away.

With the referee adding 3 minutes, a penalty kick was awarded to the "Vėtra". Despite having six "Vėtra" and two "Sūduva" players in the goal area, Z.Butkus leveled the score with a powerful low shot into the far corner of the goal, lifting all the "Sūduva" substitute players, coaches, and fans at the "Vėtra" stadium onto their feet.

After these matches, "Vėtra" failed to rise to the fifth place, while "Sūduva", who played one match less than "Atlantas", remained in fourth place.
