Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven reinforced their defensive line by acquiring Belgian national team and Brugge captain Timmy Simons, who signed a four-year contract with the new club.
28-year-old Simons, who has represented the Belgian national team 37 times, can play as a defensive midfielder as well as in the center-back position, moved to the Dutch team after agreeing on a transfer fee, which is believed to be between 4 to 5 million euros.
"PSV has had players from Belgium in the past, who spoke positively about their time in the Netherlands, and I told Brugge that I wanted this deal to happen," said Simons. "My ambitions match the ambitions of this club - to be at the highest level in Europe. I believe that the move to PSV is a step forward."
PSV, who won the league title in the Netherlands last season along with the cup and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League, recently also added M. Vayrynen and O. Ferreyra to help fill the gaps left by the departure of players like M. van Bommel and J. Vogel.
