In Lithuania, the 4th round of the "SMScredit.lt A League" started on Tuesday, with the first two matches played.
The most anticipated match of the round took place at the LFF Stadium, where last season's leaders met. The Vilnius "Žalgiris" footballers easily crushed the Klaipėda "Atlantas" team with a score of 4-0.
The Žalgiris team started strongly from the beginning of the match and broke through in the 9th minute. After a precise pass from Serge Nyuiadzi, Jakub Wilkas sent the ball into the goal.
After the goal, the "Atlantas" footballers did not give up and tried to equalize the score, but about 15 minutes later, the away team's goalkeeper committed a foul in the penalty area, and the referee awarded a penalty kick, successfully converted by Linas Pilibaitis.
As the first half was coming to an end, "Žalgiris" managed to score another goal. Following a corner kick by J. Wilkas, Kristis Andreou scored after a mistake by Klaipėda's Tadas Eliosius.
The second half also went more successfully for the capital's team, who scored again in the 52nd minute. After an impressive counterattack, S. Nyuiadzi made a pass to K. Andreou, who once again beat M. Galdika with a header.
Despite the visitors from Klaipėda trying to push the hosts, the Lithuanian champions successfully defended their lead and secured three points.
In other matches, the Gargždai "Banga" players lost points, achieving a draw with Panevėžys "Ekranas," at least temporarily maintaining their position in the second place of the standings.
