The team of the Sports Journalists Club "PRESS" of the Lithuanian Journalists' Union played in an international football tournament in Egypt. The tournament, organized by the Alexandria Library and the "Alittihad" football club celebrating its 100th anniversary, featured 10 teams from 7 countries. Lithuanian sports journalists finished in 5-6th place. In the first group match, "PRESS" faced off against Iraqi journalists. Lithuanians led 2-0 after the first half, but lost 2-4 after the break. In the second match, the team from the Alexandria Library defeated the Lithuanians 6-0. On the second day of the tournament, Lithuanian journalists won both matches - 4:1 against Germany and 2:1 against the "EuroMed" team composed of journalists working in the Mediterranean region. Having won two matches and suffered two defeats, the Lithuanian journalists' team did not advance to the semifinals due to a worse goal difference, finishing third in the group. The Iraqi journalists also collected 6 points, but conceded fewer goals and took second place. The group winner was the Alexandria Library team, which won all four matches. In the final rankings, "PRESS" shared 5-6th place with representatives from Russia. The tournament winners were the veterans of the "Alittihad" club, who defeated the Alexandria Library team 6-3 in the final. The Iraqi journalists won the bronze medal. The trip to Alexandria, made possible by the travel organizer "Novaturas," was the farthest trip in the entire history of the "PRESS" team. Until then, the farthest trip by Lithuanian sports journalists had been to the capital of Mountainous Karabakh, Stepanakert. This year, "PRESS" also plans to participate in journalists' tournaments in Gniewino (Poland), Chișinău (Moldova), and Bryansk (Russia). Ukrainian journalists planned to organize a tournament in the Crimean resort of Alushta, but after Russia occupied the Crimean peninsula, the tournament was canceled.
