Brazil's national football team coach Carlos Alberto Parreira announced before the Confederations Cup final match against Argentina his intention to leave the position of national team coach after the 2006 World Cup in Germany. C.A. Parreira also immediately rejected the possibility of taking on any other position in the football federation.

At 62, Parreira is one of the most successful Brazilian coaches of all time. Under his leadership, the "Selecao" won the World Cup in 1994 and last year won the Copa America tournament, defeating their fiercest rival Argentina in the final.

C.A. Parreira stated that he wants to stay in football: "I am attached to football and I don't think I could work in anything else. I have an idea to establish a football school for talented children."
