La Coruña signed a contract with defender Juanma. There was no transfer fee to be paid, as the Spaniard's contract with his former team, Santander, in the La Liga ended this summer.
The 28-year-old center-back signed a two-year contract with the option to extend it for another year. With the acquisition of this player, the new Deportivo coach Joaquín Caparrós begins the squad's renovation.
Juan Manuel Delgado was previously coached by Caparrós at the Recreativo club in the second division of the Spanish league in 1998-1999.
After two days of negotiations between the player's agent, Bartolomé Sánchez, and Deportivo's president, Augusto Lendoiro, Juanma became the first player to reinforce La Coruña's team this summer.
According to Spanish football rules, all clubs, except Malaga and Barcelona, must pay a compensation of 1 million euros when a player leaves the club as a free agent.
