E.Jankauskas: Football is played not only with legs © EuroFootball.com

"Trakai" football club on Thursday missed the opportunity to become the sole leader of the A League football, as they played a goalless draw at home against Klaipeda's "Atlantas". After the match, Trakai's coach Edgaras Jankauskas stated that both teams, who fought fiercely, deserved to win. "I think the match was very interesting, very intense. If I had to evaluate honestly, the result matches the game. I'm not saying it should have ended 0-0, because both teams had opportunities. Neither team deserved to lose, rather both deserved to win. Both teams wanted to win. My boys played really well, yes, there were some mistakes, the match was intense. Although not many chances were created, the game was really not defensive, very intense and dynamic. I think the football was really enjoyed by the spectators," said E. Jankauskas. The former footballer stated that the opponents' game did not surprise him: "I have known K. Sarsanija for about 20 years and I know that he always prepares the team for victory. They didn't come here as equals, they arrived a day early to get used to the field. "Atlantas" played more or less as I expected". At the end of the second half, "Atlantas" pressed the hosts near their own goal, but did not score. After that, "Trakai" also managed to create a very dangerous attack - this is how the whole match unfolded. E. Jankauskas stated that his players lacked composure, they did not manage to control the midfield. "There were moments when we lacked composure - holding the ball, slowing down the game. I told the boys that not every pass needs to result in a goal. There was a lack of patience, composure, but probably because of too much desire. Football is played not only with the legs, and when they get tired, the brain needs to help the legs - that's what we try to work on," concluded the "Trakai" coach. Konstantinas Sarsanija (Atlantas' coach): "The match was tough, a lot of physical battles, nobody wanted to give up. I think we neither won nor lost, but we lacked concentration, a bit more desire, precision in some situations. "Trakai" played good football. We still miss Andrius Bartkus and Marius Papsys, who would add a lot to our attacks, but they are not fully ready yet. We really lack defensive midfielders for game organization. We had quite a few chances from set pieces, but we couldn't take advantage of them, even though in every match we have many chances to score with our heads".
