Leverkusen has bought Dortmund defender Ahmed Madouni. The Frenchman has signed a two-year contract. The transfer fee has not been disclosed.
Madouni will help fill the gap left by Emanuel Pogatetz's departure to Middlesbrough under the leadership of Augenthaler's team. "Ahmed is an ideal purchase," said the coach. "I needed another defender when Pogatetz left us, as Jens Nowotny is still injured, and Jan Ingwer Callsen-Bracker is very young."
Augenthaler added: "Ahmed is familiar with the German league (Bundesliga) and, more importantly, he speaks German." The 24-year-old Frenchman became the fourth player to arrive at BayArena this summer. Joining Bayer is Simon Rolfes from TSV Alemannia, defender Athirson from Cruzeiro, and forward Josip Tardic from NK Osijek.
