"Borussia Dortmund" has officially confirmed that Ilkay Gundogan has extended his contract with the German vice champions.
The club's website announces that the 23-year-old midfielder has extended his contract for another two years and will remain in Dortmund at least until 2016.
Recovering from injury and able to play only next season, Gundogan has long been linked with a move. He was of interest to "Manchester United" and Madrid's "Real."
"I am very happy that this club has given me the opportunity to stay and be part of this special team. I will do everything to recover as soon as possible and help my team achieve great results," said the former "Nurnberg" player.
Gundogan has been playing for "Borussia Dortmund" since 2011. In 84 matches played, the midfielder has scored 10 goals and once triumphed in the German "Bundesliga" championship.
