Mexico disqualified two players © EuroFootball.com

The Mexican Football Federation announced on Monday that defenders Aaron Galindo and Salvador Carmona have been suspended for a year for using prohibited substances.

The defenders were also removed from the Mexican national team during the Confederations Cup. Although the reason for their removal at that time was cited as a lack of discipline, it was later revealed that the players had used a banned form of the substance nandrolone.

The suspension came into effect on Monday and will apply to all competitions controlled by the Mexican federation.
