Madrid "Atletico" club defender Mario Suarez claims that in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, London's "Chelsea" team achieved their goal.
According to the Spaniard, the team led by Jose Mourinho accomplished what they came to Madrid to do.
"The opponents achieved what they wanted, but we still have the second leg. We knew that "Chelsea" would play like this, but we couldn't break through their defense," Suarez told the official UEFA website.
"We wanted to win this match, so it's a shame we couldn't. I think we played as we should have played.
"I'm not sure if they had shots on goal. We expected "Chelsea" to play in this style. The coach said they were preparing for it and he was right. It was a tough match," continued the 27-year-old defender.
"In the second leg, as against any other team, we will try to win. An away goal would mean a lot. We will have our chances and we will try to take advantage of them," the Spaniard said.
The second leg of the semi-final match will be played in London on April 30th.
