One of the main defenders of "FBK Kaunas" Darius Sanajev this season will most likely not play anymore, announces the official website of the Lithuanian champions.
The match on June 25 against "Atlantas" from Klaipėda for the Kaunas team was victorious, but unlucky. Just before the start of the match, during warm-up, Tadas Papečkys got injured, and as soon as the match started, the team's captain Darius Sanajev had to say goodbye to his teammates from the sidelines.
However, T.Papečkys is already training. He will not play in today's match against "Šiauliai", but he should be able to help his team in the UEFA Champions League qualification match against HB Torshavn from the Faroe Islands.
Meanwhile, the team's captain will most likely not be seen on the green field this season. After tests, it was found that the footballer had torn his anterior cruciate ligaments and part of his lateral ligament.
In the near future, D.Sanajev will undergo surgery, but the doctor's prognosis is sad - the player's rehabilitation will last about half a year. It is expected that the 28-year-old defender will fully recover by the end of the year.
