On Wednesday evening, another two semi-final matches were played in the UEFA Champions League.
Real Madrid players met with Bayern Munich at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid. The "Whites" managed to withstand the pressure from Bayern and secured a narrow victory.
The first half started with pressure from the German visitors in Carlo Ancelotti's team's half of the field, but the home team defenders performed their duties flawlessly.
In the 18th minute, there was a threat to Iker Casillas' goal conceding the first goal, but the Royal club players took control of the ball and after excellent play by Cristiano Ronaldo and Fabio Coentrao, the Frenchman Karim Benzema scored.
After the conceded goal, Bayern continued to control possession, but it didn't bring them any benefit and the first 45 minutes ended with Real leading by one goal, despite good opportunities for Angel Di Maria and C. Ronaldo to score.
In the second half, the game did not change, and Bayern continued to dominate on the field, trying to break down the defense of the Madrid team.
In the 72nd minute, the home team had to make a substitution when Pepe, who had been shining throughout the match, was injured after an unsuccessful attempt to clear the ball.
As the end of the match approached, the German champions had perhaps the best opportunity to equalize when Mario Gotze, remaining free in the penalty area, took a shot, but I. Casillas showed a great reaction.
In the second half, Real Madrid repeatedly tried to respond to Bayern players with counterattacks, but the final result remained 1-0.
The second leg match at the "Allianz" stadium will take place next Tuesday, where access to the final and revenge will be sought by the champions of the Old Continent.
