"Liverpool" club strategist Brendan Rodgers was not impressed with Jose Mourinho's tactical preparation for the Premier League match.
On Sunday afternoon, Mourinho's London team "Chelsea" defeated the "Liverpool" club with a score of 2 - 0 at Anfield stadium, complicating the latter's position in the fight for the English champions' title.
However, Rodgers was not impressed with the negative tactics of the capital team.
"They didn't park one bus, but two. From the very first minute, 10 "Chelsea" players were defending. We were the team that wanted to win, but we couldn't break through their defense," said the "Reds" strategist.
"We were the better team, but we couldn't find gaps in the opponents' defense. It was difficult because they played with 4 defenders, two wingbacks, and three center backs."
"It's not difficult to line up 10 players in front of the penalty area. It's much harder to break through this wall," Rodgers expressed dissatisfaction with the opponent's game.
"Jose likes to play in this style and probably he could show his CV and say: it works. But that's not my style."
"I like it when my team takes the initiative in matches and dominates on the field, and the players can express themselves."
"If defensive football helps achieve results, then great. Jose achieved what he wanted, and he is satisfied with it."
"However, this is completely opposite to our football and I hope that our attacking style of play will help us achieve long-term results."
Rodgers also stated that "Chelsea" wasted time from the beginning.
"From the start, they tried to annoy us. We were the team that tried to win and play sportsmanlike. We tried to initiate play with the ball, but it just wasn't meant to be," insisted the 41-year-old strategist.
