After the victory in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals with an overall result of 5:0 against Bayern Munich, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti praised his players, but victory was somewhat overshadowed by Xabi Alonso's disqualification for the final.
"We played ideal match, especially pleased with the first half, where we defended well and took advantage of chances for fast attacks. We are very happy because we defeated the team that was the champion last year," Ancelotti said after the victory.
The Italian coach especially praised his attacking trio of players, but the victory was somewhat marred by Xabi Alonso's yellow card. Due to it, the long-time Real player will miss the Champions League final.
"Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Karim Benzema sacrificed themselves for their team tonight. Club president Florentino Perez is very happy and sent his congratulations to the players. We are only sad about Xabi, I believe he did not deserve the yellow card. He is very important to us and will be missed in the final," Ancelotti stated.
