In an exclusive interview with CNN television, the newcomer to "Barcelona", Neymar, stated that his relationship with the team's leader and veteran Lionel Messi is excellent and completely contradicts what skeptics were saying.
The Brazilian, currently recovering from an injury, also assured that he will be fully healed by the start of the World Cup, but regretted that he cannot help his current club.
"This season, me and Lionel have not spent as much time on the field together as we could or would like. It's understandable, injuries have haunted us. At first, I couldn't play, then he got injured, and now I can't play again due to health problems. But we get along really well. Some claimed that we wouldn't find common ground, but that news doesn't match reality," Neymar said. "Lionel is a great guy and I have learned a lot from him. Anyway, he is my ideal on the field."
The circumstances of the footballer's transfer from "Santos" to "Barcelona", which caused quite a stir, were also discussed.
"I can say that we did everything right and honestly, but I was mostly disappointed by the behavior of the "Santos" management. The ways in which they tried to solve all the issues saddened me, but I can only speak for myself. I dare say that both me and my father did everything correctly," the Brazilian stated.
The player confirmed that he will give his all in the upcoming global championships, but regretted that he cannot help "Barca" during this crucial season.
"I know my obligations to the national team. We are a team where every player helps each other, so we are ready to win the championship. However, I am deeply sorry that I am not currently playing due to health issues and cannot contribute to my current club," the forward said.
