Lithuania's national team forward Robertas Poškus is leaving the Samara club and will continue his career at another team in the Russian "Premier" league, the St. Petersburg team.
For some time, there have been talks about the financial crisis at "Krylia Sovetov," and although initially these reports were denied, soon other players like D. Kolodinas, A. Kariaka, P. Ovie, as well as L. Kingston, were sold to other clubs during the season, and the team's departure was also mentioned by the club president G. Tkachenko.
Meanwhile, the Russian press speculated which club the 26-year-old R. Poškus would move to - the main candidate to sign him was the Moscow team "Lokomotiv," but ultimately the Lithuanian was acquired by "Zenit," with which Poškus is expected to officially sign a three-year contract on Thursday.
The contract amount is not disclosed, but it is expected to be around 2 million euros. "Krylia Sovetov" will be able to pay off the debt owed to the "Rostov" club for the South African M. Booth and thus avoid losing six points in the league table.
Starting his career at Klaipėda's "Atleltas," Poškus later played for Šiauliai's "Kareda" and Vilnius' "Žalgiris," then moved to Poland and represented the teams of Włdoz "Widzew" and Warsaw's "Polonia," before joining the "Krylia Sovetov" club in 2002, where he played 80 matches and scored 24 goals in three and a half seasons.
