This weekend will feature the 32nd round matches of the Spanish Championship ("La Liga"). On Saturday, as usual, three out of ten matches will take place. Here are brief previews of them.
- Start: 19:00 Lithuanian time In this match for the Spanish champions title, the hopeful "Barcelona" footballers will face the ambitious "Valladolid" players. In the last round, "Barcelona" was a bit disappointed - after nine consecutive victories, they had to settle for a draw against "Villareal". The mood in the Catalan club is not great before this match - four key defenders will not be able to help them this weekend: Carles Puyol, Rafael Marquez, Gabri (all three due to injuries) and Giovanni van Bronckhorst (suspended). Meanwhile, in the ranks of "Valladolid" we most likely won't see defender Juan Manuel Pena.
- Start: 21:00 Lithuanian time The "Atletico Madrid" footballers are in fifth place, which guarantees a spot in the UEFA Cup next year, while "Malaga" in eighth place is lagging behind the capital team by 5 points and still hasn't lost hope to fight for a place in the UEFA Cup. Looking at the statistics, "Atletico's" chances to win this match seem worse - they have only won three times away this season. Both teams demonstrate similar form - in the last five matches, both teams won twice, played two draws and left the field defeated once. It is worth mentioning that the first meeting of these teams in Madrid ended with a victory for "Atletico" with a score of 2-0. Both teams will be without several players - Sergi Barjuan and Aguilera (both "Atletico"), goalkeeper Francesc Arnau and defender Juanito Gutierrez (both "Malaga").
- Start: 23:00 Lithuanian time Expect a lot of emotions in this match, but the situations of these teams are very different: "Celta" is fighting to stay in the league, while "Sevilla" regained their hopes to fight for a place in the UEFA Cup after their victory against "Espanyol" in the last round. Optimism prevails in the "Celta" camp - after injuries, Juanfran, Silvinho, Jesuli, Mostovoi, and the team's top scorer Savo Milosevic will return to the field. "Sevilla" also has nothing to be sad about - they will only be without the suspended Javi Navarro. However, the statistics do not promise anything good for the "Celta" footballers - they have lost their last four home matches, and the last two meetings between these teams in Vigo ended in victories for the Sevilla footballers.
