The team that experienced a crisis at the end of the last season and did not qualify for the UEFA Cup tournament is strengthening its ranks for the upcoming season. Today, the Marseille club announced that they have added two new players - Sabri Lamouchi and Andres Mendoza.
All formalities regarding the transfers were agreed upon last weekend, but the contracts with the players were officially signed only this Tuesday.
Mendoza was initially linked with another "Ligue 1" team, which was reportedly already in agreement with his former club Metalurg Donetsk, but Marseille presented their offer at the last moment and enticed the player to join their team.
It is reported that the player signed a one-year loan agreement with the French team, with the option to permanently move to Marseille after a year.
Meanwhile, the 33-year-old Lamouchi, who has represented the French national team twelve times, signed a one-year contract with Marseille with the possibility of extending it for another year.
This will not be Lamouchi's first season in Ligue 1. An experienced footballer, who was loaned out last season, has already won two French championship titles with Auxerre in 1996 and Monaco in 2000.
