The club confirmed that they have received an offer from a team regarding the acquisition of defender Gabriel Milito. The exact amount of the offer is not disclosed, but it is believed to be around 7.5 million pounds.
"We spoke with Liverpool and they made their offer," said one of the leaders of Zaragoza, Miguel Pardeza. "But G. Milito is not for sale, as he is very important to the team and we want to keep him."
The coach of the Champions League winners, Rafael Benitez, did not hide his desire to acquire a new central defender this summer, who could compete for a place in the starting lineup with the established defensive pillars Sami Hyypia and Jamie Carragher.
"We need a central defender. Statistics show that we need to improve our defense, aim to concede as few goals as possible per match. New players are needed for that," said Benitez.
