The Kaunas club had problems with their attack this season, so they added Polish striker A. Klimekas to the team. However, it was his partner A. Velička who scored in the second minute and led his team forward.

At the start of the second half, the Faroe Islands team once again reduced the score, but this time their hopes were short-lived as Kaunas defender I. Zelmikas scored just a minute later. "Kaunas" won with a score of 4-2 and took a strong step towards the second round.
The other match of interest for Lithuanian football enthusiasts took place in England, where last year's Champions League winners "Liverpool" officially began their season with a match against Wales' "TNS", and thanks to captain S. Gerrard's hat-trick, they won with a three-goal margin. This pair could potentially be the opponent for "Kaunas" in the next round.
