The talented 19-year-old defender Jesus Navas may miss the beginning of the season due to psychological problems, the Spanish club officially announced on Thursday.
The young defender, a star of the Sevilla youth academy, recently experienced another anxiety attack and will have to undergo a course of psychological treatment.
"We hope that after completing the treatment course, Jesus will return to the main team lineup in a few months. However, he will have to undergo psychological treatment throughout the entire season," - said the press release from Sevilla.
"Such problems are not uncommon in modern society, so it can happen to an athlete as well," the announcement continued. "It's fortunate that there are various treatment methods available nowadays to overcome this issue."
J. Navas, considered one of Spain's most promising players, attracted attention from various European clubs after a series of impressive performances at the end of last season.
However, the young defender often suffered from anxiety attacks, mostly occurring when he was away from Seville for long periods of time.
J. Navas decided not to represent the Spanish national team at the recent World Youth Championship in the Netherlands, and at the end of last week, he left the Sevilla training camp.
