And the discussions about the Ghana national team and the transfer of Michael Essien to London continue to be silent.
The powerful London club has been trying to attract the promising player to its ranks for some time, but "Lyon" has so far rejected all "Chelsea" offers and claims that Essien is not for sale.
"It is entirely possible that Michael will stay with us next season," said "Lyon" coach Gerard Houllier. "He is still young and I believe that for now it would be worth it for him to stay in a club where everyone, players and technical staff, respect him."
However, in recent days the player himself has spoken about how much he would like to move to "Chelsea."
"I believe that my current club will not block the door to a new stage in my career," Essien said. "I think that ultimately 'Lyon' and 'Chelsea' will come to an agreement regarding my transfer."
"If it weren't for 'Chelsea', without a doubt I would stay in Lyon for another year, but when one of the most powerful clubs in the world is interested in you, you simply can't say no," he added.
