The Istanbul legionnaire from France, Nicolas Anelka, may return to England. The 26-year-old striker is actively interested in the team.
Former French national team player started last season at another English club. However, in January, during the transfer window, a Premier League team sold the Frenchman to Turkey for £7 million.
But now, Newcastle coach Graeme Souness claims that N. Anelka really wants to return to England, and the Newcastle club could provide him with that opportunity. "We tried to buy him in the winter when he left Man City," said G. Souness. "N. Anelka really wants to return."
It seems that the Frenchman did not fit in well in the largest city in Turkey and he would like to return specifically to England. Fenerbahce would probably also be willing to release the expensive legionnaire.
The search for a new striker began after Craig Bellamy and Patrick Kluivert left the team this summer. Currently, there are only three forwards in the team - Alan Shearer, Michael Chopra, and Shola Ameobi. The latter has suffered an injury.
