Former Netherlands national football team coach Dick Advocaat will now train the United Arab Emirates (UAE) national team.
On Sunday, the Dutchman signed a one-year contract with the UAE Football Federation and will replace his compatriot Aad de Mos as the national team coach.
"The one-year contract will end six months before the 2007 Gulf Cup, but D. Advocaat has promised to extend the contract if we are satisfied with his work," said a representative of the UAE Football Federation.
After leading the Netherlands national team to the semi-finals of Euro 2004, D. Advocaat stepped down from his position as head coach of Borussia Monchengladbach in April, where he had been for less than a year.
