The road of the Lithuanian champion "FBK Kaunas" was crossed by an unusual opponent. Next Tuesday, on July 26, on the green grass of the "Darius and Girenas" stadium, the Kaunas team will face the titled "Liverpool" club.

The strongest team of last season secured a place in the second round of the Champions League qualifiers on Tuesday, defeating the "TNS" club from Wales with a score of 3-0 for the second time. The first match in Liverpool was also won by the hosts with the same result.

Today, "Liverpool" scored goals through Djibril Cisse and just after the substitution in the second half, Steven Gerrard scored twice. The latter, when scoring the second goal, beat the "TNS" goalkeeper for the fifth time in two matches.

The Frenchman D. Cisse scored by taking advantage of a mistake by the Welsh club's defender, while team captain S. Gerrard sent the ball into the net twice in a similar way - with a strong shot from about 18 meters.

The result does not fully reflect the real battle on the field. Although the English club had the initiative throughout the match, the hosts also had several good chances to score. The most realistic chance to score was missed in the 80th minute by the Welshman Steven Beck, whose shot shook the frame of the Spanish goalkeeper Jose Reina.

However, the result could have been different, but the English club's legionnaire from Germany, Dietmar Hamann, failed to convert the penalty taken by Anthony Le Tallec in the second half.

The tournament was closed by the Estonian champion, Tallinn's "Levadia". The club with two Lithuanians - Vitoldas Cepauskas and Marius Dovydenas - could not overcome the barrier of Tbilisi's "Dinamo".
