"Representatives of the Madrid club have announced that they have finally reached an agreement with the team for the transfer of the Bulgarian goalkeeper Martin Petrov to Spain. "Atletico" has been trying to acquire the Bulgarian national team goalkeeper for some time, but the German team kept rejecting the Spanish offers. However, the "Wolfsburg" management could not reject the very tempting 10 million euro offer from "Atletico". "We really wanted to keep him, but when we were offered 10 million, we could not reject such an offer," said "Wolfsburg" sports director Thomas Strunzas. As reported, Petrov should officially sign a contract with his new club within the next 48 hours. The detailed terms of the contract are not announced yet. Petrov came to "Wolfsburg" for 3.5 million euros in 2002 from Swiss club "Servette" and managed to score 32 goals in 116 matches. Earlier, "Atletico" had already signed "Chelsea" striker Mateja Kežman and "Espanyol" defender Maxi Rodriguez."
