The president of the Spanish champions, Joan Laporta, admitted that negotiations with the Chinese government for the club's first advertising contract in its 106-year history are stalling.
J. Laporta told journalists that "Barca" has other options if negotiations with China fail, but added immediately: "We're not in a rush, we don't want to rush like headless chicken. Still, it would be very nice if we could sign the contract before the start of the new season."
In May, the Catalan superclub claimed that negotiations were already finished and only the contract needed to be signed, under which "Barcelona" would advertise the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the city of China for five years.
The Spanish media reported that according to the contract, "Barcelona" would receive 19 million euros per season and could expect bonuses based on results.
Since then, the Catalan superclub has not commented on the progress of the negotiations, stating that their negotiation partners requested confidentiality.
