Although for some time now the UEFA Champions League winner has been chasing Argentine Gabriel Milito represented by the team, it seems that he will stay in Spain for another season.
Although Milito's contract with Zaragoza still has two years left, Liverpool coach Rafa Benitez wants to see the young defender in his team. The English club had already made an enticing offer of 7.5 million euros to the Spanish team, but it was rejected, stating that the player is not for sale.
Zaragoza had already lost their attacking leader David Villa, who moved to Valencia, so now they are prepared to do anything to keep the rest of their team's players.
Zaragoza has already made an offer for Milito to sign a new contract, according to which, it is believed, his salary would not be lower than what Liverpool offers him, so it is almost certain that in that case the player will stay in Zaragoza for at least another year.
The president of Zaragoza club, Jeronimo Suarez, has almost no doubt that the 24-year-old defender will stay in Spain.
"It is absolutely impossible for Milito to leave," said Suarez.
"We are ready to do everything to keep him and have already made him a very enticing offer for a new contract."
The club's president was also supported by Zaragoza's head coach Victor Munoz.
"I am convinced that Milito and Galletti will defend the honor of our team next season," he said.
As announced, it is specifically 25-year-old Argentine forward Luciano Galletti who is another player that greatly interests Liverpool coach Rafa Benitez, who constantly monitors La Liga.
