On Thursday evening, "Santos" and representatives announced that next season the young Brazilian national team forward Robinho will play for Madrid. "Los Galacticos" will pay 24 million euros for the footballer. The duration of the contract has not been announced.

"Real" tried to agree with "Santos" on Robinho since the end of the FIFA Confederations Cup, but the Brazilian team kept refusing to sell the player. When "Santos" declared that they would only sell the young talent for the full ransom amount (over 41 million euros), Robinho refused to train.

Everything was resolved today when the player agreed to give up 40% of his sales amount. Last year's Spanish champions runner-up was left to offer 24 million euros, which "Santos" could no longer refuse according to the agreement. Robinho underwent a medical check-up today.

The Royal Club's communications director Antonio Garcia Ferreras said: "We will pay 24 million euros, which is 60% of the ransom. The other 40% should be paid to the player and his agent, but they refused the money."

Wagner Ribeiro, the agent of the 21-year-old player, added: "When Robinho receives his transfer certificate, he will immediately fly to Spain. He gave up 40% to which he was entitled so he could fulfill his dream - to play for "Real."

Robinho himself said: "Spain is the perfect country for footballers from Brazil, and I know coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo well. My thoughts are only about "Real" Madrid."

This summer, the capital team has already been strengthened by Uruguayans Carlos Diogo and Pablo Garcia."
