Returning to the highest Spanish league after a year break, Vigo seems to be looking to seriously compete with the championship leaders next season. Recently reinforced with Argentine national team defender Diego Placente and Brazilian striker Fernando Baiano, "Celta" has now acquired another player - midfielder Antonio Nunez.
According to "Celta" representatives, the player has signed a three-year contract with the team. Officially, the footballer should be presented to the club's fans in a few days, when all the necessary documents from Liverpool reach the Spanish team.
Nunez moved to England last season, as part of the deal through which "Real" acquired Michael Owen, but despite spending a significant amount of time on the field, the Spaniard failed to establish himself in Rafael Benitez's team.
"Negotiations with Liverpool have been completed," said "Celta" president Horacio Gomez. "Now we just have to wait a couple of days until we receive all the remaining documents from England."
Gomez also revealed that "Celta" is actively negotiating for two more footballers - Brazilian midfielder Kleberson and Portuguese representative Hugo Viana.
"We are currently finding it difficult to negotiate with Manchester for Kleberson, but we are not going to give up," Gomez continued.
"We are also actively negotiating for Hugo Viana's transfer to our team, but there are several other clubs interested in this player, so the future of this player is not clear at the moment."
