On Tuesday, good news visited all the club's fans - club coach Frank Rijkaard agreed to extend his contract for another two years. According to the new agreement, the Dutchman will coach the Catalan club until 2009.

Club officials announced that all contract terms have been finally agreed upon and upon his return from Asia, where the club is preparing for the upcoming season, Rijkaard will officially sign the contract.

"The club has shown that they trust me. Now the most important thing is to stay positive and enjoy every working day," Frank expressed his joy.

Rijkaard joined the club in 2003. The coach's debut was not impressive - in the first half of the season, "Barcelona" played poorly, at one point the club was barely in twelfth position in the Spanish championship. However, in the second half of the season, the team recovered and moved up from the middle of the table to the second place. The second year in the club was more successful for the coach - "Barcelona" players played consistently throughout the season and won the title of Spanish champions.
