Attacker Darius Vassell is moving to Manchester. The 25-year-old footballer was acquired by the team for 2 million pounds.
The footballer, who has represented the English national team, successfully underwent a medical examination today and agreed to sign a four-year contract. Last season, the injury-prone Englishman scored just three goals in 21 league matches in the English Premier League.
It is likely that the money received for D. Vassell will be spent by "Aston Villa" manager David O'Leary in an attempt to attract Czech Milan Baroš, who is out of place in the club. The most productive player of the European Championship for the team from Birmingham should cost at least 7 million pounds.
"It would be unfair to say that I sold Darius to get money," said D. O'Leary. "I have a budget that I use to try to acquire new players, and the deal with D. Vassell is not related to that."
In the lineup of the new club, the attacker should make his debut this weekend in a friendly match against "Sheffield Wednesday" or "Stoke".
