Spain officially announced that they have extended the contract with the team leader, the defender of the Argentine national football team Gabriel Milito.
The 24-year-old center-back moved to Spain from "Independiente" two years ago and this summer it seemed like the Argentine could leave Zaragoza, as there was great interest in the player from the UEFA Champions League winners, "Liverpool".
However, the Argentine chose the opportunity to stay with the "Zaragoza" club, with which he extended a contract that was supposed to be valid until 2007, until the summer of 2010.
Earlier, G. Milito had also caught the eye of Spanish football giants - Madrid's "Real" and "Barcelona", and a year ago he almost transferred to Madrid's "Real", but the transfer did not happen due to doubts about the Argentine's health by the Royal club's chief doctor. Football experts still refer to this decision by "Real" as a failure.
