This weekend, the first of the powerful European leagues started their new season in France's "Ligue 1". Matches of the ninth round of the first tour were played on Friday and Saturday. The match between the newcomer and the defending champions for the title will take place late Sunday evening. In the first duel of the new season, the capital's team "P.S.G" trashed "Metz" 4-1, confirming the experts' predictions that Paris team should be one of the contenders to take the title away from "Lyon" this season. It is worth mentioning that the first goal of the championship was scored in the 5th minute by Bonaventure Kalou, who transferred from "Auxerre" to "P.S.G" only this summer. Another championship favorite, "Monaco" club, also secured a victory in the first round. The principality's team defeated "Nancy" 0-1 with a goal from newcomer Oliver Kapo at this season's "Ligue 1". The next "Ligue 1" newcomer, "Troyes", started their appearance in the highest French football division with a 1-1 draw against former Lithuanian Edgaras Jankauskas' club "Nice". One of the favorites "Marseille" club had an unsuccessful start to the new season, unexpectedly acknowledging "Bordeaux"'s advantage with a 0-2 loss at home. After the match, "Marseille" coach expressed disappointment with the team's performance while "Bordeaux" strategists and players did not hide their joy after a great start to the championship. Despite pessimistic expert predictions, last season's second-place "Lille" club started the championship successfully by defeating "Rennes", who will play in the UEFA Cup, at home with a slim margin. The only goal of the match was scored by Jean Makoun in the 38th minute. An interesting match took place in Sochaux, where the local team lost 0-1 to "Toulouse", with the only goal of the match scored by Brazilian Francileudo Santos who transferred from "Sochaux" this summer.
