Today, representatives of Milan officially announced that Argentine national team center-back Walter Samuel is moving from Madrid to Italy for 16 million euros.
The Argentine arrived at the capital team in 2004 for 25 million euros from the "Roma" team, but failed to adapt to the royal club. "I went to Madrid hoping to win many trophies, but we couldn't do it," said the 27-year-old defender, who signed a four-year contract with Inter.
It was a strange season for us, as the coach changed three times. I am happy that a club as big as Inter trusted me after such a difficult season. I will do my best to help them," said Samuel.
The 1997 World Youth Championship winner W. Samuel has played 51 matches for the Argentine national team, including three games in the 2002 World Cup and two in the recently concluded FIFA Confederations Cup.
Inter, the club that bought S. Solari from Real Madrid this summer, will start their UEFA Champions League season in the third qualifying round against Shakhtar Donetsk.
