The German club Schalke has withdrawn from negotiations for the Czech national team and striker Milan Baroš and instead acquired the Danish Soeren Larsen.
Although on Saturday Schalke coach Ralf Rangnick told journalists that the German club had agreed on a personal contract with M. Baroš, on Monday the Gelzenkirchen club officially announced that negotiations with Liverpool had broken down.
"Liverpool does not want to loan the player, only to sell him," the reason for the breakdown of negotiations is explained in Schalke's official statement. It also states that Liverpool is asking for 8-10 million euros for the striker.
However, Schalke acquired the striker - the 23-year-old Danish Soeren Larsen arrived in Germany from Swedish champions Djurgarden. The Dane signed a four-year contract with the German club, and according to the German media, the Swedish champions received about 2 million euros for this transfer.
It is also reported that this year the German vice-champions, who will play in the UEFA Champions League, are also interested in Greek national team defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos.
